Nerf Alpha Trooper Update

Now that my Alpha Trooper is 5 months old, I'm doing a short updated review.

  • The overall range of the gun is now spasmodic- instead of consistently reaching 35 feet or more it now varies between shots that fall out of the barrel, 20 and 35 feet shots. This could possibly be changed somewhat by the use of older bullets
  • After firing, the pump handle can lock in the firing position, and will only move when either pulled with reasonable force or after you hit the gun against something hard
This gun originally got 9/10 stars, but it now gets 8. The performance has certainly reduced, but it still sits alongside the Raider and Maverick as my favourite Nerf gun.

The new Dart Tag commercial from Nerf.

Nerf Vortex Update

Nerf has released it's second Vortex video here. Below is my breakdown of what I saw.

At the top of the image is a gun that bears some resemblance to the gun I'm calling the Vigilon. In the centre is the Praxis. At the bottom is presumably a new gun, as it does not look like the Nitron. It means that this is possibly the Vigilon.

The single shot blaster sighted in the last video that I called the Proton looks to be the Nerf Surveillance, which is peculiar as it obviously is a much different name to the Proton.

A nice shot of the loading system of the 'Surveillance'

This is the shot that has been annoying me. It looks like the mystery gun at the bottom of the first feature, but bears to much resemblance to the Nitron for me to confirm it as a different gun.

Nerf Vortex Series Update

Based on what I've seen/heard in the trailer, I'm taking a stab in the dark as to which new Vortex guns are which.

It makes sense for the Stampede like gun to be the Nitron. The pre-release pricing info made this the priciest at 70 euros, which is the equivalent of about $95.

Also, it looks like someone is holding the front grip on the box, which also identifys as the Nitron.

Secondly, this gun is the Praxus or Praxis. A gun on the price list was called the Practice, and was priced at 40 euros, or $55 dollars. This gun features a sweet shotgun action.

Based on these, this gun can be nothing other the the Vigilon, priced at 25 euros, or about $35 dollars.

And this little gun that resembles the Sharp Shot is the Proton, which was 15 euros, or $20.

No information as of yet about the Nerf Vortex Mission, but my bet is that it will be similar to the Dart Tag 2-Player Starter Pack, which came with 2 sharp shots and two vests.

Poll Results

Unsurprisingly, there was an overwhelming response that stated that the Stampede ECS-50 is real. Thanks to everyone that voted- my new poll will be up soon.
